Bloggers & Colors...
Having met a few bloggers lately..I was pretty surprised to find out that they were expecting to see someone that looked completely different than what I do in real life.
"Your blog is pink!" I wasn't quite sure what that meant but later found out that it gave the impression that I was a 22 year old, Betty Boop lookalike. The fact that I didn't quite look like that made me, as they put it "more serious looking".
I couldn't help but be amazed on how the colors of our blogs were actually giving away an impression of who we may or in this case may not be.
The question of the day was...so which one was I really like...was I deep down a 22 year old, Betty Boop lookalike...(pink background)...or was I a black background that presented my darker, deeper side...If I had a green background..would that have made the impression that I was older? Does loving pink mean that I have to be 22? Can't a 30 something chick like pink?
Come to think of it, does our icon give the impression that we really are those people?
True everybody loves certain blogs...who doesn't like A3sab? Is it the fact that she's a "frustrated Kuwaiti woman/Mother" and we love her stories or is it the beautiful icon that we see?
If Jazz Central feels like an older person, is it 'coz the colors of his blogs give that impression or is it the saxophone that gives it away?
Who doesn't love reading Temetwir's controversial blogs...his icon created a whole debate...and the black background definitely gave the impression that you were entering "at your own risk". If he didn't tell you his age...wouldn't you think he's definitely over 40?
In my case, I personally don't mind being thought of as a 22 year old, Betty Boop.
Afterall, everybody had a crush on her when she was around! Now, having said that..is that something only a 22 year old is aloud to say?
Oh well, who cares...I like being pink and I'm sticking to my grounds..Pink Rules!

I guess people take what information is provided to form an idea about the blogger. Pink is a young girly color, which I too love :)

the nickname, blog template, profile picture give me an impression but most of all, the personality and way of thinking. i always knew you were 30 and above.
many bloggers though thought and still think i'm in my early twenties.
one more thing, i always thought that i should only befriend people of my age. but now, i discovered that age doesn't matter. now i enjoy befriending all ages whether 10 years younger, or old grandmas!
ya3ni what matters is getting along with people and enjoying their company regardless of their age.
hehehe. That's exactly why i changed my photo a few days ago..i think people were starting to think that i look like Linda Evangelista. (she's always been my favorite model). I think the colors say something about the person but not the picture.
oh thats a great compliment thank you i'm blushing.
my blog's look changed 5-6 times since i started in february.. i guess that mean i have multiple personality disorder :P

Flam...I definately agree with you when it comes to befriending people regardless of their age...but sadly so many people don't see it that way...but I have to be honest...I was so happy to know that you were older..I mean even though it shouldn't matter...but there's a sense of bonding I feel just knowing...:)

Interesting...i do think subconciously we try to picture what people look like based on their blogs -that goes for the writing, template, and even profile pic. I don't have a distinct image of what everyone looks like, but for a while I did imagine A3sab to look like Linda...hehheh
zinzin...ooh my God...that's awful! but I have to admit, you made me laugh...:)...I on the other hand like to believe that the smarter and prettier the girl...the more likely she's still single 'coz the guys just can't handle the pressure..:)..I suppse we could have a survey and ask who from the female bloggers are actually "heavy" and who are not..then see how they rate in intellegince...you think they'd be offended?...I very much believe they would...but then again..I can always say it was zinzin's comment that provoked the whole thing!..;)

zinzin...now that's the skill I'm still trying to accept and therefore implement ...Playing THE BIMBO! Sometimes I blame my mother who although raised me to be outspoken...now tells me that I intimidate men! yeesh...there's no winning here...although women cream the art of playing bimbo..I personally find the whole ordeal very tiring! Why shouldn't I use my brains when I've got one!
