El Baraka Bil E7jab....

When I bumped into my mit7ajba twenty four year old distant relative at N Bar the other day, there was something about her that looked different. True, she looked cuter than I'd ever seen her but I just couldn't pin it down. Teasing her, I said "Shlonich ya Su3ad 7ussnee?" Her face reminded me of her for some reason.

She giggled and said "You can't tell what it is, can you?"

I realized suddenly that she must've done something to her face and so I starred intensely to figure it out.

Getting bored at me starring, she finally blurted out "I GOT DIMPLES!"

My mouth dropped.

Yes, there they were, two holes in her cheeks! I, dumbfounded, screamed "Eshlon?"

"I was feeling depressed and wanted a change. All my friends have been doing the same thing and so I did it! I went to this famous Egyptian Doctor at Taiba Clinic and it took exactly five minutes for each check!"

Shaking my head at her being crazy, I teased "Oh, so this is the latest trend in Kuwait that you girls have been up to!"

She looked at me like I was from out of space and said "You mean you've never heard about it?"

"La habeebti, I had no idea!" I replied feeling rather exhausted while I remembered my entire busy week at work and how different it must've been compared to this newly dimpled girl.

With a sudden serious look on her face she said "Bass Tikfain MissCosmo, mo etgoleen hag a7ad, tara 7'alee ma yadree o low dira be kafi7'nee!"

"En zein shlon ma dira, ma shafich?" I asked, wondering how the entire family couldn't see that there was something different about her.

"La, el baraka bel e7jab," she replied as she showed me how she can cover the dimples by her laffa.

After she was gone, her answer kept ringing in my head. "El baraka bil e7jab?..El baraka bil e7jab...el baraka bil e7jab"

There was just something very ironic about that sentence when it came to fake dimples and e7jab....

"El baraka bil e7jab..."...weird...when you think about it...isn't it..

OH MY GOD! How typical..7ijab is used as a cover now..for everything...

I had no idea we can even get dimples..heheeh..Maybe I'm the one who's abnormal because I never want to change myself!?!? Does that make any sense?

I hate how everything is fake now!!

Dimples are a rarity, and now every tom dick and harry will have them.

Then they start to accuse people who have them naturally if they are fake.

So annoying.

Abi. Theyre so cute. But the fake ones look fake....theyre nothing next to the real thing.

Last month I attended the milcha of a 19 year old girl. As she sat smiling,I thought there was a dark spot on her cheek. Thank goodness I didn't say anything because I soon realized it was a dimple. And she never had one before. She also has this new smile now that is an obvious attempt to accentuate the dimple.
I can't help being suspicious that it is fake.

I agree w/ Miyafushi too!

Lol @ Miyafushi

When I read the dimple bit I was like "WHAT!"

When I am depressed, a buy a new accessory...I do NOT accesorize my face!

Fakeness in Kuwait has spread into somewhere new. THE FACE!

Wow...

I'm all right with plastic surgery if you spend your teenage years crying your eyes out because you have a witch's nose...but doing it for the hell of it when you like fine as it is?

Witch nose, people have that for a reason, its a message from GOD to stay away.

Just one more use of a Hijab unfortunately.

See this issue of cosmetic surgery in Kuwait. I'm always for freedom of personal choice. I don't get bothered by trends or such choices people make, but i do get bothered by the exploitation of it. All of a suddgen the whole country is muscled up. All of a sudden, the whole country had a nose Job. All of a suddgen, the whole country has dimples. Etc.

That's just ridiculous LOL! Everything that's fake will start to show later on in life.

I only have one dimple...when I was a kid I used to have two, but then i got chicken pox and one of the spots appeared where my other dimple used to be and poof! It was gone ever since. Weird huh?:p

Purg: LOL @ rat juice!

very amusing :)

you should post something about:

100 useful things to do with your 7ijab!

I think 90% of our population use the 7ijab for reasons aside from Religion :)

Wanna do the honors and post it? or should I do it ??

:)

3abeer,
tell you what.. you go on ahead and support your "thoughtful" hypothesis with empirical evidence, and we'll pick it up from there. mo tekhebe6 el mas'ala.
sure, you said you 'think' - but then you went on to propose that an "overwhelming majority" en sa7 ilta3beer of 'our population' wear il7ejaab for reasons aside from religion. i personally do not find that intelligent, let alone introspective. but that's just me, and since i don't know you i think i should have the courtesy to respect such a statement slash more of a proposition, as i am certain, enough to hear you out

first however, i want to note:
you specify 90% of our population "use" the 7ejab.. ela nehayat eljomla. so i ask of you kindly to state whether you're talking about "ninety percent" of il met7ajbat, or 90% of females in kuwait?
- im assuming you're referring to kuwaitis only when you say our population .. and not muslims, or ppl from the gulf .. or whoever. correct me if i'm wrong -

i not only think, but actually anticipate that it will be "amusing" to see how you are going to support - if you would - such a claim that basically boils down to the fact (based on your percentage 6ab3an) that only 1 girl of 10 wears il 7ejab for the 'reason of religion'.
if it was an exaggeration, then i personally see it insulting, not even generalising. if it was a sincere estimate, which is what i hope since that is how you present it, then i am obliged to hear you out

that is only required, of course, of your fine self if you expect people to take you seriously and regard what you have to say as the accumulative result of sincere personal thought and belief that cohere with reality, something which you and i both, as i hope, share.
if on the other hand you wish me, for one, to disregard whatever you say and stop holding you accountable to what you write, then i will be just as glad to note you down as 3abeer who spares no chance to write something wherein i will find (a) ridiculous digit(s) as if that magically makes a proposition all the more true and or the writer smarter
